Lady Steers dominate courts

The Lady Steers of Big Spring got back to winning Tuesday night as they defeated visiting Greenwood 52-45. The Lady Steers jumped out to a 28-16 halftime lead and held on for the win as Greenwood tried to rally late.

Scoring 14 points in each of the first two periods, Big Spring held the visitors to six points in the first frame and 10 in the second. Greenwood would outscore the Lady Steers 29-24 in the second half, but the damage had already been done, as Big Spring improves to 5-1 on the year.

Bridgette Tuitt and Cerbi Ritchey each put up 11 points in the win, followed closely by Mackenzie Stone with nine, all coming on her three 3-pointers.

Ambra Hill added six points, LaShaunte Anderson had five and Logan Yarbar scored four points in the winning effort.

Diamond Mayes, YaneriaTuitt and Dyrshae Vanderbilt each recorded two points to round out the stat sheet for Big Spring.

The Lady Steers will play Thursday in the Andrews tournament. Their first game will be at 1:30 p.m. against Amarillo Caprock.
