MONAHANS â€” Yaneira Tuitt banked 15 points as well as 10 rebounds and five blocks and Chellsie Clay added 11 points, four rebounds and three assists to guide the Lady Steers to a 39-24 tournament-opening win over Kermit.
BSHS (8-5) resumes play today in Monahans.
LAMESA â€” The Steers (4-5) will kick off their tournament today against Odessa Permian at 1:30 p.m. The Steers are coming off back-to-back overtime wins against San Angelo Lake View.
GAIL â€” The Buffaloes (4-1) pummeled New Home 48-18 in their first game in the Borden County Tournament.
J.T Breyman contributed 13 points and five rebounds; Dillon Bagnall chipped in eight points, four assists, five rebounds and five steals; Aric Hernandez added eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals; Kade Fannin accounted for eight points, 10 rebounds and four steals; Jerol Womack had six points, eight rebounds and one steal; Clayton Galloway put up four points and had six rebounds two steals and one assist.

STANTON â€” The Bulldogettes (2-4) lost their first meeting at the Stanton Hooptown Tournament, 42-29 to Sweetwater.
â€śWe gave up 18 offensive rebounds, which was the difference in the game,â€ť Head Coach Paul Hartman said.
Coahoma plays again today against Midland Greenwood's J.V. Squad.
STANTON â€” The Buffaloes â€” hosts of the Hooptown Tournament â€” started strong on their home turf with a 40-25 win over Midland Classical. The Lady Buffs also fared well, downing Midland Greenwood's J.V. Squad 55-21.
WATER VALLEY â€” Grady opened the Water Valley Classic Tournament on Thursday with two straight wins. The Wildcats' defeated San Angelo 78-47 on the strength of Brandon Lucas â€” who accounted for 28 points total including eight three-point baskets. Brett Glaze added 17 and Taylor Polson put up 14.
Ivan SanJuan led the Wildcats in the second game, scoring 15 in a 83-26 rout of Sterling City.
Grady resumes play today against Iraan.
Sands (boys) defeated Sweetwater 50-33 at Stanton Hooptown Tournament.
