Lady Steers remain undefeated

November 15, 2011

The Big Spring Lady Steers basketball team is off and running, winning their first two games of the young season. The girls defeated Abilene Cooper 40-27 this weekend in a game which relied heavily on the defense skills of Big Spring.

The Lady Steers got into a bit of foul trouble early in the game, but fought their way through it to claim a tough road victory, remaining undefeated.

Bridgette Tuitt led the Lady Steers with 12 points, followed closely by Mackenzie Stone with nine, who knocked down three 3-pointers for Big Spring.

Dyrshae Vanderbilt scored seven points for the Lady Steers and Yaneira Vanderbilt had six, while Ambra Hill, Alexis Cansino and LaShaunte Anderson each put up two points.

The Lady Steers will be at home tonight at Steer Gym. The freshman team will play at 4:30, the JV at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
The 2-0 Lady Steers will be playing against Odessa High.

Meanwhile, the boys basketball team begins their season tonight as they travel to Fort Stockton.
