L.C. Hurst

L.C. Hurst, 83, of Big Spring died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in De Kalb, Texas, and married Virginia Conley on May 3, 1966, in Denver City, Texas. She preceded him in death June 3, 1992.
He worked for Exxon for 15 years and then for 38 years in the oil field for different drilling contractors and Pool Well Service. He worked at the Big Spring State Hospital in food service from 1983 to 1993.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 628 A.F. & A.M in Midland and the Dallas Scottish Rite.
Survivors include two sons, Shannon Hurst and Jimmy Hurst, both of Midland; five daughters, Lana Hurst and husband Tony Cortinez of Big Spring, Lorri Hurst of Snyder, Jenifer Hurst and husband Santos Mendoza Jr. of Big Spring, Josie Wheeler and husband Carlton and Linda Owens, all of Midland; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vel Hurst; two sisters, Evelyn Hurst and Etaw Applin; a son-in-law, Bobby Owens; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Hurst.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
