Leah Risetter Cooper, 90, of Big Spring died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Marcy House. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Alive in Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carroll Kohl officiating.
She was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Concord, Iowa to Clara and C.M. Pearson. She married Alan Risetter on Dec. 2, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1970.
They moved to Big Spring in 1963 from Marshal Town, Iowa. She later married Claude Cooper in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She owned and operated the Desert Sands Motel and Restaurant. She later cooked at Brass Nail.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Averette of Big Spring; two sons, Stan Risetter and wife Linda of Whitesboro and Mark Risetter and wife Cheryl of Lewisville; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and husband Don and Betty Vogt of Phoenix; one brother, Carrol Pearson and wife Paule of Radcliffe, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carmen Rider; and one brother, Les Pearson.
The family suggests memorials to Alive In Christ Lutheran Church, 2805 Lynn Dr., Big Spring, Texas 79720.
