Leland Hyatt

Leland Hyatt, 86, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, in a Colorado City nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev.s Mark Lindsey and Mike Couch officiating.

He was born April 17, 1927, in Rushville, Ind. and married Mona Lee Arnold May 28, 1955, in Connersville, Ind.

He had been a resident of Big Spring since 1979 and worked as the custodian at First Baptist Church, retiring in 1998. He loved puzzles, making miniature display horses and saddles and the Indy 500.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Hyatt of Big Spring; four sons, Rick Hyatt and wife, Jana of Chandler, Mark Hyatt and wife, Brenda of Big Spring, Allen Hyatt and wife, Chris of Lubbock and, Jacques Hyatt and wife, Cori of Midland; two daughters, Tanya Shortes and husband, Rick of Waco and Arla Tibbels and husband, Kent of Kingsbury; sister, Mary Ellen Wooldridge of Rushville, Ind.; brother, Max Hyatt of Columbus, Ind.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Alexandria Hyatt; and two sisters.

The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 705 W. FM 700, Big Spring, TX 79720.
