Leroy Perkins, 79, of Big Spring passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Kristi Lee Manor in Colorado City, Texas, following a fatal prognosis over the last month. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Bastrop, Texas. He was the son of Manuel and Lovie (Weatherall) Perkins. He was a resident of Big Spring since 1956, after farming in Bartlett and Granger, Texas, with his family. He was a faithful member of Shiloh House of Praise for several years. Mr. Perkins worked at Webb Air Force Base in the kitchen for a number of years before he retired.

He is survived by his daughter, Ms. Billie (Betty) Turman of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Louis Perkins of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren, Alvin Allen of Houston, Texas, and Orpheulia Davis and husband Kenneth; his great-granddaughters, LaToya Azanga and husband Papichio and Troynette Steward; his great-great-grandchildren, Crescent and Tafarah Azanga; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Beatrice on Nov. 20, 2002.
