Let's go rodeo!

June 20, 2013

For 79 years, some of the top cowgirls and cowboys in the nation have been pulling their hats down on their heads, giving that nod that says “let's go” and heading into the rodeo arena with one thought in mind — walking away from Big Spring with cash in their pockets and the pride of knowing they did the best they could. The tradition continues this evening.

The 80th Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo gets under way with the customary grand entry at 8 p.m. in the Big Spring Rodeo Bowl. For three days — nights, actually — there will be more than enough riding, roping, hooting and hollering than to make even a hardcore rodeo enthusiast happy. Add some entertainment on motorcycles and trick riding, kids special events and a couple of dances, and there promises to be something for just about anyway.

Advance tickets are available at the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, Ward’s Boot and Saddle, H-E-B Grocery, Western Bank, Compass Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Lonestar State Bank, Citizens FCU and State National Bank. They're $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12.

Gates open at 7 each night and if you haven't picked up your tickets by then, the cost is a couple of dollars more — $12 and $8.
