Lewis Shields

Lewis Shields, 83, of Big Spring, formerly of San Angelo, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home. Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Lawnhaven Memorial Park in San Angelo.

He was born Nov. 7, 1930 in Jones County, Texas to Lucile (Jackson) and R.A. Shields. He grew up in San Angelo. He had a landscaping business in San Angelo. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy on the U.S.S. Boxer.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan Lee of College Station; and two sons, Marty Shields and Dan Shields, both of Pflugerville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, in 2000.
