Local kids invited to aviation class

June 18, 2012

Kids, get ready to take flight.
Kids Klub at Hangar 25 Air Museum — Flight School — will be July 16-20 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old.
“This is going to be a week-long journey of discovering the secrets of aviation, the life of a soldier and several other activities,” Museum Administrator Genevieve Stockburger said.
During the week, pilots will be coming in to speak to the participants about different types of airplanes and the life of a soldier. Each day will have a mission pertaining to the day's lesson and activities.
According to Stockburger, history lessons on the Hangar as well as the wars throughout history will be included.
“If we want to have future supporters then we need to be reaching the kids,” Stockburger said. “We need to have them participating in history.”
Classes will be from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday. The wrapup, including graduation, will be from 10 a.m. until noon Friday. The events of the day will flow a little differently, according to Stockburger, in order to accommodate the graduation ceremony.
Registration for the program can be made online at www.hangar25airmuseum.com or by stopping by the museum, located at 1911 Apron Drive.
The deadline for registration is July 6, with no late registrations being accepted. There are 25 spots available for the program. For more information, call the Hangar at 264-1999.
