It’s time for the 2011 Boy Scouts of America Spring Information Night.
Representatives from the Boy Scouts will be on hand from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at 610 Scurry Street to provide information about the different programs the Boy Scouts of America offer.
Throughout the evening information will be provided from volunteers of the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, aviation exploring, fire service exploring and venturing.
On top of the information from the volunteers, there will be interactive learning activities for those attending. If you would like more information about the event contact Brian Sweeney at 432-213-3577.
Tuesday night the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will join together to host the Home Runs for Hunger Food Drive, at the Roy Anderson Sports Complex from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. All the donations from the food drive will benefit the Iglesias Bautista Central Food Pantry. The scouts are asking all those attending the games to bring non-expired, non-perishable food items.
“All they have to do is bring their donations to the field and we will have a drop-off site set up next to the concession stands,” Shannon Duncan, district commissioner, said.
The scouts are asking for the community residents to help them knock hunger in Big Spring out of the park.
Another upcoming event, for the Girl Scouts of Big Spring ages kindergarten through 12th grade is Splash Down Day Camp.
During the day camp participants will have the opportunity to learn about water uses, water management and water control. They can also join ceremonies, cooking, water activities and more.
For those wanting to attend the camp registration needs to be done by June 15. The camp will run Monday through Thursday, from June 27 to June 30 and will cost $15. This registration fee includes water park admission.
