Locals arrested for murder, tampering with evidence

A Big Spring man has been arrested for a murder which occurred Friday.
According to a Big Spring Police Department press release issued Wednesday, Raul Romo, 20, has been booked for first-degree murder, while his mother, Brenda Valdivia, 37, has been arrested for tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, in connection with the fatal shooting of Jaime Barboza, 47.
The release indicates that police officers responded to a report of an unattended death at 705 1/2 Abrams, Friday at about 8:15 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, the officers located Barboza in his bedroom at the address, his home. The apparent cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
