Lorina Ontiveros, 59, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her residence. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born in Big Spring June 10, 1954. She married Lupe Ontiveros in Big Spring in 1985 and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Hall-Bennett Hospital and later at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in the O.B. Department. Her last years were working at Cornell Corrections. She enjoyed traveling, but her passion was nursing, her family and especially Johnâ€™s music.
She is survived by her husband, Lupe Ontiveros of Big Spring; one son, John Ontiveros of Big Spring; two brothers, Oscar Garcia and wife Vera of Phoenix and Eloy Hernandez of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Isabella Rivera, Marcus Rivera, Adrian Rivera and Jeremiah Rivera, all of Big Spring; one daughter-in-law, Natasha Azdar and her husband Sergio of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Rivera; and her grandparents, Virginia and Ramon Garcia.
Those serving as pallbearers are Manuel Jara, Brandon Ontiveros, Lucas Ontiveros, Sergio Azdar, Sisto Herrera and Jason Lee. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Little Joe & La Familia and her grandchildren.
