Mahlaya Da’Nae Woodruff

Mahlaya Da’Nae Woodruff, 5, of Coahoma died Sunday March 30, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born Jan. 7, 2009, in Big Spring to Krystal and Curtis Woodruff. She was a pre-K student at Coahoma Elementary.

She is survived by her parents, Krystal and Curtis Woodruff of Coahoma; two brothers, Keno Woodruff of Coahoma and Gio Woodruff of Big Spring; grandparents, George Herrera and his wife Olivia of Loraine and Vernon Ausbie of Colorado City; great grandparents, Claudio and Louisa Lopez of Sand Springs and Carmen Herrera of Coahoma; a number of aunts and uncles, including Kimberly Ybarra and her husband, Matt, of Big Spring and Greg Smith and his wife, Magan, of College Station; and a number of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by one sister, KiAna Vanderbilt; her grandmother, Diane Herrera and her uncle Anthony “Bubba” Herrera, who all died in the same accident. She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Norma Jean Woodruff; and her great -grandfather, Luis Herrera.
