Mamie Lee Merrick

Our beloved mother, who was a devoted wife, grandmother and friend, Mamie Lee Merrick, 99, of Ackerly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 4:28 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Bud Duggins officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Waco, Texas, and was a long-time resident of Howard County. She married Robert A. Merrick on Oct. 21, 1933, in Big Spring, and he preceded in death March 30, 2008.

Mamie leaves many wonderful memories to those who loved her, especially her children, Jimmy Merrick and wife Joyce of Amarillo, Johnny Merrick of Ackerly, Jake Merrick and wife Kaylynn of Hinton, Okla., Jackie Merrick and wife Teresa of Ackerly, Joyce Turner and husband, Bill of Ropesville, Jo Nell Rowlett of North Richland Hills, and Julie Merrick of Lubbock; and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The love she had for her home and many community friends will be forever remembered in all the lives she touched.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Merrick.
