A Big Spring man was arrested and charged with injury to a child after law enforcement officials say he confessed to harming a 4-month-old child Monday.

Jimmy Enrique Alatorre, 20, of 1002 N. Main St. Apt. 66, was arrested Monday on a charge of injury to a child – serious bodily injury after officers with the Big Spring Police Department were called to the emergency room at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

According to BSPD Lt. Terry Chamness, the child suffered fractured ribs — both new and older injuries — and a collapsed lung as a result of the altercation.
