Marchie Elevenie Settles

Marchie Elevenie Settles, 88, of Big Spring, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel in Big Spring with Bishop Carl Condray officiating.

Marchie was born March 11, 1925, in Saint Jo, Texas, to Charles Wesley Dunford Oliver and Willie Bernice James, and married Burr Lea Settles November 7, 1947, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He preceded her in death Nov.6, 1999.

She worked as a presser at a variety of dry cleaners in Big Spring, but worked at Gregg Street Cleaners on a regular basis. Prior to this, she worked in Oklahoma in an airplane manufacturing company during World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Marcia Green and husband Rennon, of Temple; two sons, Burr Lea Settles Jr. and wife Sharon of Big Spring, and William Rowan Settles, of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents Charles Wesley Dunford Oliver and Willie James Oliver, and one brother Edwin Perkins Oliver.
