Marie Chapman, 92, of Big Spring died Sunday, May 6, 2012. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park with Rick Cunningham officiating.
She was born April 1, 1920, in DeLeon, Texas, to Zonie and John Lancaster. She and her twin brother, Marion Lancaster, were the youngest of nine children. When Marie was two, the family came to Howard County in a covered wagon.
She married Maurice Chapman on Nov. 13, 1937, in Big Spring. They settled in the Moore Community and farmed there until moving into Big Spring in the late 1960s. Her husband preceded her in death July 9, 1993. She was a member of the 14th and Main Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter, Lana Money and husband Harry of Big Spring; one grandson, Eddie Money and wife Wendy of Pflugerville; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Money of Beaumont and Sidni Money of Pflugerville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Myra Lanell Chapman; three brothers, Marion Lancaster, Oren Lancaster and Alfred Lancaster; and five sisters, Elsie Smith, Eldora Zant, Johnnie Railsback, Myrtle Williams and Minnie Tredaway.
The family extends a special thanks to Dorothy Long, Gracie Leal, Harry Money, Loreta Yarbrough, Howard Whitley and Missy Whitley, along with Caring Hearts Home Health and Home Hospice.
