Marie Lopez

Marie Lopez, 65, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Vigil services will be 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

She was born May 15, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Felipe Lopez on Aug. 4, 1965, in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1993.

Marie was a life-long resident of Big Spring and had worked in the family businesses at Spanish Inn, Alberto's and Papa Chon's. She had also worked for the Big Spring Independent School District in food service for 15 years.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jose "Yo-Yo" Gonzales of Big Spring; one son, Eric Lopez and wife Stacey of Big Spring; one daughter, Alice Lopez of Big Spring; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jody Flores, Billy Pineda and Andrew Chavarria, all of Big Spring; and four sisters, Anna Gomez, Mona Talamantez and Annabel Huante, all of Big Spring, and Henrietta Olga Salinas of Lamesa.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion "Chon" and Natividad Rodriguez; two daughters, Anna Marie Lopez and Guadalupe "Lupita" Lopez; a granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Puente and Benny Rodriguez; and a sister, Dora Flores.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 10900-B Stonelake Blvd., Suite 320, Austin, Texas 78759, the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, Lubbock, Texas 79424 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
