Marietta Harris, 96, of Big Spring, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Home Hospice Chaplain Cherise Felty officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born Dec. 28, 1915, to Cora and W.T. Wilson in Oklahoma. She graduated from Big Lake High School. She married J.B. Harris in 1935. He preceded her in death in 2000. She lived most of her life in San Angelo and had been a resident of Big Spring for more than 29 years. While in San Angelo, Marietta worked at Hatatorium. She also owned a sewing and quilting business and participated in arts and craft shows.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Harris of Big Spring and Jimmy Harris and wife Ginger of Ohio; one daughter, Nancy Mabry and husband Jimmy of Hobbs, N.M.; 13 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ken Harris and Carl Harris; one daughter, Francis Webber; and two brothers, Theodore Wilson and Grover Wilson.
