Martha Genay Bertran, 81, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Martha was born June 13, 1931, in Dallas County, Texas, to Odie and Jessie (Hubbard) Tuley and married M.L. Bertran Jr. on Sept. 29, 1949, in Dallas. He preceded her in death March 15, 2012.
She was a member of TOPS and loved to travel and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing and was a member of Berea Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Bertran and wife Patti of Big Spring; one daughter, Sherri Gibson and husband Mike of Clinton, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Chris Bertran, Melissa Bertran, Heather Cooper, Sarah Holm and husband Joshua, Gillian Gibson, Thomas Gibson and Danny Gibson; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Billie McDaniel and husband Mike; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Hooper and Wanda Adams.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Crawford; two brothers; and three sisters.
The family suggests memorials be made to Berea Baptist Church, 4204 Wasson Rd., Big Spring, TX 79720.
