Martin R. Cerna, 62, of Big Spring died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel in Big Spring, Texas, with Bobby Rivera officiating. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rudy Perez officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born July 21, 1950, to Francisca and Pedro Cerna in San Antonio, Texas. He was a resident of Big Spring for more than 20 years. He was self-employed as a landscaper and repairman. He married Evangelina Herrera on June 12, 2010. in Big Spring.

He is survived by his wife, Evangelina Herrera Cerna of Big Spring; two sons, Christopher Martin Cerna of Happy and Domingo Martin Cerna and wife Sofia of Lamesa; five daughters, Janet Cerna Escobedo and husband Reynaldo of Alice, Olivia Marie Cerna and husband Manuel Herrada of Dallas, Gloria Cerna of Ft. Worth and Yvette Frances Cerna and April Nicole Cerna, both of Big Spring; two step-daughters, Stacy Vasquez and husband Kelly of Lubbock and Sandra Rodriguez and husband Gene of Big Spring; six grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; two brothers, Baldemar R. Cerna and wife Gloria of Lamesa and Roberto Cerna of Knott; and three sisters, Elvira Martinez of Knott, Irene Cerna Hernandez of Big Spring and Gloria C. Carrillo of Corpus Christi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sotero R. Cerna and Victor R. Cerna.
