Marvin Winton

Marvin Winton, 74, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at his residence. Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 14, 1937, to Mamie and Samuel Winton in Mercedes, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force from July 26, 1955 until Oct. 31, 1975, serving during the Vietnam era. He retired as a staff sergeant from Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. After retiring, he worked for H.W. Smith Transport for 10 years. He has been a resident of Howard County since 1975.

Marvin is survived by one daughter, Linda Medina of Big Spring; four sons, Samuel Winton of Abilene, David Winton of Lubbock, Daniel Winton of Illinois and Carl Winton of Lubbock; three brothers, Sam Winton and wife Laura of Niangua, Mo., and John Day and Joe Day of Illinois; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son John Winton.
