Mary Dean Cuthbertson 88, of Houma, La., formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in a Houma nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.

Mary was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Texas and married Vernon Cuthbertson Nov. 17 1944, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1998.

She worked in the canteen at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Big Spring. After the death of her husband and sons, she had moved to Houma to be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Glynna Witt and husband Gary of Houma, La.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Hattie Mae Thompson Gill; two sons, Vernon Lawrence "Larry" Cuthbertson Jr. and Jerry Dean Cuthbertson; and one granddaughter.
