Mary Helen Wells, 85, of Jal, N.M., formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Borden County, Texas, to Dollie (Reed) and S.D. Moore. She married James Wells on July 1, 1947, in Hopkinsville, Kent. She lived in Dawson County from 1948 until 1975, coming to Howard County. In 2004, she moved to Jal, N.M. She was a retired school cafeteria worker, an avid bowler and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Wells and wife Gail of Big Spring; three daughters, Sandra Nanny, Kay Riddle and Laurie Green and husband Will, all of Jal; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louie Moore of Springdale, Ark., and Sammy Moore of Cleburne; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; a granddaughter; and one brother, Milton Moore.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
