Mary Roberts Dalton

Mary Roberts Dalton, 86, of Big Spring died Thursday, July 26, 2012, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the funeral home.

Mary was born May 1, 1926, in Topeka, Kan. She married Samuel K. Roberts on July 1, 1944, and he preceded her in death Nov. 16, 1985. She then married James M. Dalton on Aug. 20, 1988, and he preceded her in death June 15, 1989.

She came to Big Spring in November 1954 and had worked at Cowper Clinic for 11 years and then at the Big Spring-Howard County Health Department for 15 years. She enjoyed yard work and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Mary was a faithful member of Baptist Temple Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Becker and husband Larry of Big Spring and Linda Best and husband Alvin of Coahoma; four grandsons, Rodney Krause and wife Jacque of Bettendorf, Iowa, Greg Krause and wife Shanda of Lubbock, John Becker and wife Meredith of Friendswood and Wendell Best and wife Deon of Ames, Iowa; and nine great-grandchildren, Bryan Krause, Samuel Krause, Ben Krause, Mackenzie Becker, Gage Krause, Nicole Best, Brittany Best, Ashley Best and Amber Best.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. Sr. and Minnie Lowery; one grandson, Matt Kay Stuart Best; two brothers, John Miller and Robert M. Lowery Jr.; and one sister, Helen Louise Pierce.
