May Lefern Pierce

Mrs. May Lefern Pierce, 84, of Monroe, N.C., formerly of Big Spring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at Gail Cemetery, Gail, Texas. A celebration of her life will be conducted at noon Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Henry Hall Wilson Home, 1301 East Franklin St. in N.C..

Mrs. Pierce was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Victoria, Texas, a daughter of the late John Wilbourn and Birdie M. Pearce Wilbourn. She was married to the late Lee Roy Pierce, who passed in 1976.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Jean Pierce (1947), Martha Epsaro (1991) and Jean Pierce (2010).

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Ann Jordan and husband, Col. Donnie Jordan of Monroe, N.C., Vicki L. Townsend of Monroe, N.C. and Rita L. Brumley of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; a son, Roy Lee Pierce and wife, Cindy Pierce of Mt. Holly, N.C.; four sisters, Lois Crawford, Pearl Wells, Dorothy Pearce and Anna Mae Wilbourn; and three brothers, Merle Wilbourn, Edward Wilbourn and Jack Wilbourn; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
