Meliton A. 'Lingo' Viera Jr.

Meliton A. “Lingo” Viera Jr., 50, of Big Spring, Texas, died Sunday Aug. 10, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. A prayer service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park. The Rev. Joe Torres will be officiating.

He was born to Conseption and Meliton Viera Sr. in Big Spring on Sept. 10, 1963. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a member of Central Baptist Church. He worked as a mechanic for Travel Centers of America before retiring due to ill health. He also served in the National Guard.

He is survived by two daughers, Bianca Nicole Gaxiola of Juarez and Melissa Ann Viera of El Paso, Texas; two sons, Meliton R. Viera and Demetrion Jose Rocha, both of Big Spring; his Mother, Conseption “Chinnie” Viera of Denver City, Texas; three brothers, Michael Viera, Luz Viera and Luis Albert Viera, all of Big Spring; three sisters, Dolores Carreon of Denver City, Diane Ornelas of Tularosa, N.M., and Debra Sue Carrillo of Big Spring; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Meliton A. “Tony” Viera Sr.
