Mildred Shortes

Mildred Shortes, 87 of Cisco passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Breckenridge, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Peace Chapel in Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas, officiated by Don Tarbet. Services are under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home of Cisco.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mildred was born May 18, 1925, in Coahoma, Texas, to James Roy and Faytie (Williams) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Shortes Sr.
She worked for Southwestern Bell in Big Spring, Cisco and Abilene and retired Aug. 20, 1980. She was a member of the I-20 Church of Christ and Southwestern Bell Pioneer Club.
She is survived by sons, Darrell E. Shortes Jr. and wife Susan of Breckenridge and Bennett J. Shortes and Darla Richards of Rochester; daughter, Judy Kay Bilbrey of Cisco; brothers, J.R. Bennett Jr. of Coahoma, Gerald Bennett of Pecos and Bo Eugene Bennett of Sand Springs; sister, Betty; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters.
