Milton 'Rip' Lewis

Milton "Rip" Lewis, 86, of Big Spring died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Charlie Edmonds officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6: p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at the funeral home.

Rip was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Dawson County, Texas, to John and Lois (Ward) Lewis. He married Juanita Wright on Feb. 7, 1948, in Big Spring. Rip grew up in Stanton and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He retired from Cosden Oil Refinery in 1981.

He was a member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Lewis of Big Spring; two daughters, Lea Oma Lewis Gray and husband Pat of Midland and Cheryl Rau and husband Lee of Big Spring; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Janell Williams; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Claudia Massingill and Lena Mae Lewis.
