Missing girl update: Mom, boyfriend fail polygraph tests

January 7, 2011

Hailey Dunn

COLORADO CITY — The search for 13-year-old Hailey Darlene Dunn, missing for more than a week, continued Thursday with help from the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.

A DPS helicopter assisted in the search Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Meanwhile, Hailey's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, told CNN television personality Nancy Grace that both she and her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, had failed polygraph tests. She alluded that both she and her boyfriend had been on medication, which may have skewed the results.

Billie Jean also told Grace, a former criminal prosecutor, that she had asked Adkins to leave the home they shared in northern Colorado City. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Adkins may have left Colorado City, though law enforcement officials have not confirmed that.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website, Hailey Dunn was last seen about 1 p.m. Dec. 27, wearing navy sweatpants, a short-sleeve, light-colored T-shirt, flip-flops and red hoop earrings.
