M. L. Bertran Jr., 84, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. John McCullough, pastor of Berea Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born Feb. 23, 1928, in McCamey, Texas, and married Martha Genay Tuley on Sept. 29, 1949, in Dallas, Texas.
M. L. served in the United States Navy. He moved to Big Spring in 1971 from Post and had worked for Shell Oil Company as a lease operator for 33 years. He enjoyed traveling and being with his family.
He was a member of Berea Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Genay Bertran of Big Spring; one son, Jimmy Bertran and wife, Patti of Big Spring; one daughter, Sherri Gibson and husband, Mike of Clinton, Okla.; two sisters, Rose Hooper of Eunice, N. M. and Wanda Adams of Denton; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judy Crawford; and one sister, Wilma Hughes.
The family suggests memorials be made to Berea Baptist Church, 4204 Wasson Rd., Big Spring, Texas 79720.
