Mona Faye Tinsley Walker Holman

Mona Faye Tinsley Walker Holman, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Christus-Schumpert Highland Hospital in Shreveeport, La., following a short illness. Funeral services will be held ft the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, La., on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Shelby Cowling officiating. Interment will follow at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, La. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Holman was born Sept. 6, 1929 in the Standpipe Community near Homer to Roy Clyde and Myra Ione Beavers Tinsley. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and traveling. Mrs. Holman retired from the First Guaranty Bank in Homer as vice president, after a career that spanned more than 39 years.

Mrs. Holman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Durwood E. Walker; and brothers, Percy Tinsley and Drew Tinsley.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Holman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Aubrey (Poley) Guinn of Homer and Carlene and Gary (Speedy) Hollan of Homer; brother, Leroy Tinsley and wife, Olarene of Homer; sisters, Camilla Bauldree and husband, Travis of Homer, Brenda Rainey and husband Royce of Haynesville, Billie Joyce Teague and husband Ronnie of West Monroe, and Judy Bolt and husband Jack of Houston; sister-in-law, Laura Tinsley of Haynesville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or the First Baptist Church of Haynesville.
