With over half a decade of volunteer work helping give children a voice under her belt, Debra Morton was nominated as Volunteer of the Year with CASA of West Texas.
CASA of West Texas nominates one volunteer a year for their exceptional dedication to the children they help. This year, Debra Morton was chosen for her long term service to the organization and continued dedication through some more of the challenging situations.
Morton has been with the organization for seven years and has the same giving spirit as when she first started. Morton and her husband have 15 grandchildren, and her love of children ultimately led her to respond to an ad in the newspaper for volunteers at CASA.
“If I could be a foster parent I would probably have ten kids,” said Morton. “So I saw this as a way, a stepping stone to that. As a way to become involved with children and to really be a part of there life.”
CASA West Texas is always looking for new volunteer. For more information, call 432-263-4162 for more information.
