Museums are known to hold history, all kinds of history. Sometimes, they have the opportunity to tell a little of their own.
The newest exhibit at the Heritage Museum, 'Our Houses of History: Portraits of Rural Texas Museums,â will do just that.
âOur former museum curator, Beth Williams Purcell, has compiled photographs displaying the history and importance of museums,â said Tammy Schrecengost, museum curator.
The photographic display will open with a meet and greet reception with Purcell, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
âThis exhibit shows how small towns can have nice museums with interesting and unique collections,â Schrecengost said.
âSmall town museums typically have very small budgets, but can be successful with the proper management and local, as well as area wide, involvement.â
The exhibit will be on display to the public through May 1. The museum is located at 510 Scurry; hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children and seniors.
