National groups pull out of search for Dunn

Hailey Dunn

COLORADO CITY — Investigators say the search for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn is still going strong despite the departure of two national volunteer programs from the effort during the weekend.

Officials from the Laura Recovery Center for Missing Children and the Klaas Kids Foundation left Colorado City following the weekend, after spending several days organizing volunteer search parties.

Brad Dennis, director of search operations for the KlaasKids National Search Center for Missing Children, said his group had to leave the search due to prior engagements in Florida.

“We knew going in that we only had a few days available on the schedule, and we weren't able to bring in our whole team,” Dennis said. “Our goal is to put a plan in place that allows locals to sustain the search efforts in a way that is advantageous to law enforcement.

“We never give up. I told the family and law enforcement that if our services were needed, we were more than willing to come back and bring even more resources for the search.”
