There is no more room at the inn — the inn for animals, that is.
Howard County Humane Society is at a point where animals are having to be turned away. As of Thursday afternoon, the shelter was housing 159 dogs and 65 cats.
“If we can take an animal we will and the situation changes daily, but the normal flow is for every one animal we adopt out we have one or two to take its place,” Jo Stone, Humane Society coordinator, said.
The workload required to take care of the animals as well as the expense for food are also increased factors as the number of animals at the no-kill shelter continues to grow.

Would it be possible to offer the people of Howard County the possibility of paying $1.00 extra for the Humane Society on their utility bills?

I wonder if the Humane Society and one (or more) of the city services could offer an optional donation with each bill. I think a lot of people would gladly participate in this.
