Nominations for Man, Woman of Year due

January 6, 2011

Do you know someone who has gone out of their way to make Big Spring and Howard County a better place to be? Well, now is the time to recognize them for their efforts.

Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is taking applications now for Man and Woman of the Year, awards which will be presented Feb. 3 during the annual Chamber banquet at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
There are only a couple of guidelines in the nominating process.
“Nominees do not have to be chamber members but nominators do,” said Debbye ValVerde, Chamber executive director. “Also, we ask that you don't nominate political figures.”

Other than that, anyone is eligible. Organizers stress that nominees should be men and women who have volunteered their effort and time to various projects, if possible, and not just one endeavor.
Last year's winners were Drew Mouton and Jeanie Knocke.

“Criteria and application information are available at the Chamber. We will be glad to e-mail or fax that information over. Just give us a call,” said ValVerde.

The deadline to nominate someone for Man or Woman of the Year is Jan. 18.
