Old Settler Reunion starts Saturday

June 8, 2011

Rodeo week is a big one for Howard County residents, especially the old settlers.

The 87th Annual Settlers Reunion will conclude rodeo week, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18 at the Heritage Museum.

“It started out as a big family reunion for residents of Glasscock and Howard counties and it has evolved over the years,” Museum Director Nancy Raney said.

For years the Howard/Glasscock Settlers Reunion was held in the city park at the Old Settler's Pavillion. This year, the gathering will take place at the museum as it has the past few years. There will be free hamburgers for the public. Refreshments will be sold for $1 and a dessert auction will take place.
