One killed in Gail Hwy. truck wreck

One person died in a two-vehicle accident in northern Howard County Thursday afternoon.

Antonio Zavala Martinez, 51, of Big Spring was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace Bennie Green, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Marc Couch. The accident occurred on FM 669 (Gail Highway) near FM 700.

“The 18-wheeler was traveling south on FM 669. The pickup truck, driven by Antonio Zavala Martinez, which was pulling a trailer, was traveling north on 669. The pickup was turning left onto Avenue X and it crossed into the path of the 18-wheeler,” Couch said.
