Orpha Ruth Dennard, 87, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, Texas. Graveside service was on May 7, 2014 at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery with Brother Doug Holtzclaw officiating.

Ruth was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Mills County to Clyde and Maggie Moreland Faulkner. She grew up in Goldthwaite and married Charles Dennard her senior year of high school on April 30, 1944.

Ruth lived most of her life in Mills County on the ranch and worked at the county clerk’s office, the Mills County State Bank and finally retired as branch manager of Southern Savings and Loan. She and Charles lived in Fort Worth from 1952 until 1962 and in Big Spring, Texas from 2002 until 2008.

Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite. She enjoyed sewing, collectables and traveling on bus tours. She and Charles especially enjoyed operating Dennard’s Den.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, her three sisters and her husband, Charles.
She is survived by her son, Sammy Dennard and wife Mary of Humble, Texas; one daughter, Sandy Skiles and husband Mike of Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
