Otilia H. 'Tila' Alvarado

Otilia H. “Tila” Alvarado, 84, died Friday, Aug 3, 2012, in Grapevine Texas. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. James Plagens and Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

She was a life-long resident of the Howard County area and a member of the Sacred Heart Parish. She was a homemaker. In recent years she lived in San Antonio and Grapevine.

She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Odem, Texas, to Anita and Urbando Hernandez. Her family came from a farming background until they moved into Big Spring.

Survivors include a son, Frank Alvarado and wife Claudia of Salem, N.H.; two daughters, Maria Paredez and husband Paul of Grapevine, and Lus Ramirez and husband O’Brien of San Antonio; two granddaughters; sisters Anita Guajardo and Carmen Hinsberger of San Antonio; and numerous other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio, and two sisters.
