Parker, Yarbrough top students at Sands High School

Landon Parker and Morgan Yarbrough earn the valedictorian and salutatorian slots respectively for the 2011 Sands High School graduation class, principal Zelda Bilbo announced.

Valedictorian Landon Parker is the son of Steve and Amy Parker of Knott and graduates with a grade point average of 95.63. Parker plans to attend Lubbock Christian University and major in business.

Morgan Yarbrough, the daughter of Tommy and Monica Staggs of Ackerly and Mark and Tiffany Yarbrough of Big Spring, earned the salutation slot with a GPA of 95.52. Yarbrough plans to seek higher education at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and major in athletic training.

Also graduating with honors are: Meagan Yarbrough, daughter of Tommy and Monica Staggs of Ackerly and Mark and Tiffany Yarbrough of Big Spring; Joseph Garland, son of Adam and Sandra Hernandez of Ackerly; and Kynnie Campbell, daughter of Ronda Williams of Acklery.

Graduation ceremonies will take place at 8 p.m. Friday at Sands Auditorium.
