Petition drive moves along

February 15, 2011

The Big Spring City Council may have given up on putting a vote on term limits and initiatives and referendums before voters in May, but the Concerned Citizens Council isn't quite ready to throw in the towel on the issue.

Members of the CCC are in the process of collecting signatures from municipal voters to force city officials to hold an election in May to determine the fate of the issues in the Crossroads area.

The issue of term limits went before the city council in January and was voted down on second reading by a vote of 5-2, with council members Manuel Ramirez Jr. (District 2), Joann Staulcup (District 3), Gloria McDonald (District 4), Terry Hansen (District 6) and Stephanie Horton (District 1) voting against the measure.
