Phyllis Evans, 88, of Stanton, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Greenwood, Texas. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gilbreath Funeral Home.

She was born April 17, 1926, to Arthur William Howard and Margaret Mabel Goffin Howard in The Grange, Langley, England. Phyllis moved to Stanton in the early 1940s after marrying R. A. Evans of Stanton, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Evans and wife, Nelda of Greenwood and Paul Evans and wife, Nancy of Smithville; four granddaughters, Jamie Lloyd, Misti Shockley, Ashlie Barnhill and Kelly Evans; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Howard of England; and one sister, Nellie Curtis of England.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patsy Evans; and a brother, Willie Howard.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas Ave., Midland, Texas 79701.
