Police investigating Friday shooting; victim stable

June 22, 2013

Investigators are trying to piece together the situation that led to a 24-year-old Big Spring man being shot in the leg in the 800 block of N.E. Eighth Street Friday morning.

Nicholes Limon was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to the emergency room at Scenic Mountain Medical Center shortly after the shooting was reported at 10:25 a.m.

According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer for the Big Spring Police Department, Limon was found in an alleyway between N.E. Eighth and N.E. Ninth streets when officers arrived on the scene.

“Officers were dispatched to the area on a report of a shooting,” Everett said. “The victim (Limon) had suffered a single gunshot wound to his lower right shin. The victim was treated at the scene by medics and was transported to the emergency room. He was later transferred to a Lubbock hospital, where he is in stable condition.”

Everett said Limon was unable to shed much light on the situation leading up to the shooting.
“The victim offered little information on the shooting,” Everett said. “One witness in the neighborhood heard a shot, but saw nothing. There were no other witnesses.”

The victim advised officers he had been shot by a male suspect, according to Everett, but was unable to provide other information vital to the investigation.

“Limon could not identify the male subject he told officers shot him or provide a possible motive for the shooting,” Everett said. “Also, the victim does not live in the neighborhood (where he was shot) and did not offer any reason why he was in that area at the time he was shot.”

Anyone having information regarding this crime is asked to contact Everett at 432-264-2558 or Crimestoppers at 263-TIPS (8477).
