Police search for shooting suspect

Big Spring Police Department officers are asking for the public's help in their search for a shooting suspect.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Leroy Zubiate, 29, of Big Spring, in connection with a Wednesday afternoon shooting at 1207 Sycamore in east Big Spring.

Juan Diaz, 23, suffered serious gunshot wounds to the face and legs during the incident, which occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Diaz was immediately airlifted to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa; no update on his condition was available at noon Thursday.

The shooting is believed to be the result of a domestic dispute between Diaz and Zubiate. An arrest warrant charging Zubiate with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon has been issued.

Zubiate, who left the scene of the shooting in a black 2000 Hyundai Tiburon (Texas license plate number CV1N426) is considered armed and dangerous.
