'Pray for Rain' service set Thursday

March 5, 2011

Area residents will turn their need for moisture over to God Thursday evening, as area clergy and lay pastors gather to hold a rally to pray for rain at First Baptist Church.

Tim Blackshear, former Big Spring mayor and rally organizer, said the prayer rally will be based around 2 Chronicles 7:14. “

'If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,'” Blackshear quoted from the Holy Bible.

“I really think God is trying to tell us something. “We've had years where the rain fell on our farmland, but there wasn't any runoff for the reservoirs. We've also had years where there was rain for the reservoirs, but not for the farmland. However, this year we're looking at a situation where we're not getting rain for either.”
