Big Spring independent School District officials have announced registration times for parents wishing to enroll their children in 2012-2013 pre-kindergarten classes.
Pre3-K registration will be held from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Goliad Intermediate School return, will be required.
• The family is homeless.
• Parent is a member of the U.S. armed forces (military identification will be required).
• The child has been in foster care.
The following documents will be required at registration:
• Official birth certificate.
• Immunization records.
• Child’s Social Security card.
• Proof of residence, such as a utility bill or lease agreement.
• Parent’s driver’s license.
• Proof of guardianship.
Vickie Cheyne, PEIMS coordinator for the district, said pre-k will change significantly next school year — not only will more classes be offered, but they will change from half-day to full-day status. All pre-kindergarten classes during the 2012-2013 school year will be held at the Kentwood campus.
Despite the expanded number of classes, Cheyne cautioned that admission to the program will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We have had a waiting list the past two years,” she said.
