'Pumpkins with Pop' puts kids, dad together

October 19, 2013

Fathers got to spend some quality carving time with their children at Washington Elementary Friday.
The school's “Pumpkins With Pop” event annually brings fathers to the campus to spend time with their kindergarten-age kids in a classroom setting, then try their hands at the latest jack o' lantern designs.
Friday afternoon, the Washington cafeteria was filled to capacity with kindergartners, their fathers and pumpkins — lots and lots of pumpkins. For those children whose fathers couldn't attend because of work or other obligations, Big Spring High School football players were on hand to give the kids a helping hand.
